Directed by Claude Miller
In CLASS TRIP (LA CLASSE DE NEIGE), Nicolas is an insecure child plagued
by visions of disasters and horrible accidents. In his dreams and daydreams
he sees his father in a car crash, his brother abducted, and his own classmates
shot at by men in white masks. His peers tease him, or simply ignore him.
Even Nicolas teachers are frustrated by his lack of social skills.
His paranoid father is of little help. Nicolas disconnects from the world
around him, inhabiting his own friendless, nightmarish realm.
On a class trip to the ski country, Hadkann, the class bully, befriends
Nicolas and becomes intrigued by his dreams. When Nicolas takes ill, his
visions become more intense. The line between reality and hallucination
blurs as his startling visions begin to come true. When police find a dead
child in the woods, murdered and mutilated, Nicolas knows there is a connection
between this crime and his visions, and with Hadkanns help, he sets
out to find it.
Claude Miller directs CLASS TRIP with a deft and subtle hand. Adapted from
Emmanuel Carreres acclaimed novel of the same name, Miller takes
his audience inside the mind of an emotionally damaged child. He recalls
the intense social hierarchy of childhood, combining it with the psychological
suspense of an unseen killer, and the haunting beauty of the French countryside.
His previous works include ALIAS BETTY and LA PETITE LILI.
The fourth film to be released under the Tales From The Orphanage banner,
CLASS TRIP won the Special Jury Prize at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival.
Running time: 96 min.

“ Highly recommended!”

The film's sense of the loss of innocence
is powerfully conveyed by pristine snowscapes, a shattering orchestral
score (using Rossini's Petit Masse Solemnelle), and superb acting, all
brought together by Claude Miller's assured direction.
BE DISTURBED. BE VERY DISTURBED.
